GET YOUR GROUP INVOLVED!

Groups like Soroptimist, Rotary, Lion’s, Kiwanis, AAUW, Optimist and SIRS – and many others – make a vibrant contribution to the vitality of our community by tackling important issues and donating time, money, goods and services.

If your group periodically schedules outsides speakers, we’d love the opportunity to offer a realistic picture of the face of hunger in Sacramento. Unfortunately, myths about hunger abound. It’s commonly assumed that those who are hungry are homeless, or that overweight people are getting enough to eat (many fill up on food that’s cheap but low in nutritional value). The fact is that hunger is everywhere – including the suburbs, where the poor now outnumber those living in inner cities in the U.S..

If you like to do presentations, and would like to help with community education, we’d love to hear from you, too.

We need and welcome small grants from groups’ community service funds, and would be happy to find other ways that your group can support River City Community Services, such as:

  • Sponsoring a fundraiser
  • Organizing a food drive
  • Collecting personal toiletries – small and family size – such as hand soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrushes and dental floss
  • Collecting diapers and baby food
  • Having members volunteer as a group or as individuals
  • Assisting RCCS with pro bono professional services such as grant-writing, computer support, data analysis, graphic design, public relations and printing services
  • Donating new or barely-used equipment such as computers, telephones and fax machines

Please contact us to explore how your group could get involved!
