FACTSHEET
Emergency Food and Shelter Programs
July 2005
Hunger is certainly not taking any vacation here in Sacramento
this summer. Our volunteers have been kept very busy, especially
at the end of the month, assisting large families. Of course that
means more children are receiving food, just as we predicted in
May. The high price of fuel is beginning to have an effect too;
families are definitely feeling the pinch of transportation costs
and utility bills . When you add weeks of triple digit temperatures,
all of the challenges seem greater.
We are grateful to those who answered our call for donations
at the beginning of summer, and to those steadfast supporters
who donate on a regular basis. Thanks to our donors, we have been
able to meet the needs of all of our clients.
During the month of July, we served:
- 1,880 clients
- 1,165 adults
- 715 children
- 917 households (22% were new to RCCS)
During the month of July, we provided emergency housing to the
following:
- 72 nights for 9 families (motel vouchers)
- 6 families received rental assistance
Please remember our clients' nutritional needs for canned food
donations:
| Peanut Butter (16 oz) |
Tuna (6 oz) |
Pork & Beans (16oz) |
| Vegetables (16 oz) |
Top Ramen |
Tomatoes (16 oz) |
| Fruits (16 oz) |
Soups |
Macaroni & Cheese |
Many thanks for your continuous and generous support!
