Who do we serve at River City Community Services? And what
brings them to our agency?
Families that come to RCCS for food are statistically very close
to those profiled by America's Second Harvest Network, Hunger
in America 2006: In that study, the following statistics were
reported:
48% percent coming for emergency food are families with
children.
38% percent of the families include at least one employed adult.
The average reported income is $860 per month.
68% report incomes below poverty level.
Families come to RCCS because they must make difficult choices:
42% report having to choose between buying food and paying
for utilities.
35% report having to choose between buying food and paying
for housing.
32% report having to choose between buying food and paying
medical costs.
