Emergency Food and Shelter Program
June 2006
Many thanks to the churches and individuals who answered our
call in our Spring Community Quarterly newsletter and our Spring
Appeal to help us prepare for the summer. Thanks to the generosity
of many, we were able to meet the demands of
a busy month.
On Friday before the July 4th holiday weekend, a single mom asked
our program manager if she could come to RCCS twice a month for
the summer. She was overwhelmed with the food she needed during
the summer for her school age children and thrilled to hear about
the Free Lunch program here is Sacramento that supplements the
breakfast and lunch programs offered during the school year.
Food drives help us keep food costs down and will be important
throughout the summer.
We hope our "friends" remember that "Hunger does
not go on vacation," and that they will continue to gather
and contribute our primary and high protein food items.
