Greater Service Through Partnerships
The power of RCCS partnerships enables us to efficiently and effectively
address emergency food and housing requests. The RCCS collaborative
includes the faith community, community donors, other social service
agencies and local government. By removing duplication of effort,
the RCCS approach produces better results for the community and our
clients. Key partners include:
Ecumenical: Seven churches utilize RCCS intake to screen
and coordinate food distribution. Centralized food outreach allows
the faith community to maximize resources with targeted food drives
and bulk purchases-and ensures help gets to the needy.
Francis House: Counselors, skilled in homeless population
issues, work with RCCS to screen and refer families in crisis
to the motel voucher program.
Breaking Barriers: Working to meet the needs of the medically
fragile, Breaking Barriers and RCCS coordinate three-day supplies
of nutritional food to nearly 800 people with HIV annually.
CARES: Through a NorCal AIDS Challenge Mini Grant, and in
cooperation with a CARES registered nutritionist, RCCS provides
monthly Food For Fun Classes sharing recipes and cooking methods
to prepare nutritious meals primarily from Food Closets foods.
Specific information regarding nutrition, diet, shopping and
budget planning are provided to the medically fragile.
Community Services Planning Council: RCCS is in the top
six programs most referred to in Sacramento County. InfoLine guides
RCCS clients to available resources in the community.
